Murrow celebrates May 3rd - World Press Freedom Day.
It is an opportunity to: celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom; assess the state of press freedom throughout the world; defend the media from attacks on their independence; and pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
Communicating America’s message to the world has never been more challenging. Nor has the importance of a free press. The Internet and global satellite television have dramatically changed the playing field. ISIS has proven masterful at spreading its message of hate. The Russians, the Chinese and others are ever more sophisticated in their use of propaganda. And in many countries, journalists are under siege.
